Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the purpose of Sport-Tribe?
Sport-Tribe gathers information about sport clubs, events and "spots". Not just the “big” clubs or events but also the local ones. Users can then search and display theses informations. It’s also a place to keep in touch with the sports community, wherever you may be.
  • Where does the data come from?
The data are provided both by Sport-Tribe and by the sports community. Everybody can add an entry in Sport-Tribe, that’s our main asset.
  • What is a "tribe"?
A "tribe" is the link between ONE COUNTRY and ONE SPORT. Once inside a tribe, you can find clubs, events, "spots" and members of this "tribe".
  • What can Sport-Tribe bring to me?
Sport-Tribe will help you to find your favourite sport clubs, events and "spots" and keep in touch with your sport partners. It also allows you to get the latest information about events.
  • What is a club, an event or a "spot"?
The “clubs” are all the different forms of sport clubs you can think of: Dance schools, Squash clubs, Golf clubs, Racing bike groups, Martial art schools, etc...

The events can be "one-offs" or regular occurances. They can have many shapes and forms: competitions, tournaments, shows, workshops, fundraisers, meetings, open days, etc…

“Spots” are places such as surf spots, rock climbing spots, diving places, paragliding and hang gliding take-off sites, mountain bike tracks, roller/skateboard parks, etc...
    Spots are usually places outdoors
  • What are the benefits of joining Sport-Tribe?
You can contact and be contacted by other members of Sport-Tribe. Once your account is created, you'll have a 'favorite' list (of clubs, events, spots) and a list of friends and sport partners. You will also be able to indicate the clubs you belong to, and the events you might go to, and also post comments in the mini clubs' and events' blogs. Also, during the creation of a club or event, you will be registered as its creator. A direct link to your profile will be visible from the club (or event) that you created that other members can see. In the near future many new features will be available for registered members.
  • Why is my “tribe” empty or not fully completed?
It is because Sport-Tribe hasn’t gathered enough information about this tribe yet and no one from the community has added any/enough information.
  • Can anyone add and update clubs, events or spots?
Yes! We believe that no single person can have all the information about a sport club/event/spot. But together, we can! Sport-Tribe will always review and validate new entries to avoid data pollution and misinformation.
  • If someone updates my club with wrong information, what can I do?
Click “Signal abuse” from the club page. We have the history of all modifications and we can rollback to an older version.
  • Someone has deleted all data about club, what can I do?
    See the answer above :)
  • The data of a club or event are wrong, what can I do?
You can update the information yourself or contact us and we will try to do it.
  • I found a club in Sport-Tribe but it no longer exists in the real world. What can I do?
Click on “This club doesn't exist anymore.” from the club page. We will check the entry and delete it.
  • My club or event has more than one sport, can I add them all? Where will they appear?
Yes you can. You have to specify the other sport during the adding process or add them later by doing an update. Your club will appear in all tribes containing the country and sport of the club.
  • Can I enter results from an event?
Yes ! And we encourage people to do it. Just go to the event page and click on the tab "Event results / Feedback" and add a result.
  • How can I see the results from a past event?
You first need to find the event page. The results will appear under the tab "Event results / Feedback" if someone has entered some.
  • How do I search for new events?
First go to the search page and check “view event”. Then specify on the dropdown list “show only FUTURE events” We recommend that you use the "list view" to have an overview of new events.
  • In the Search page, should I use the "MAP" view or the "LIST" view?
It depends on what you are after. If you would like to find entry near a place (ex: your home town) the "MAP" view is recommended. If you'd rather have an overview of all entries, you should use the "LIST" view.
  • My event occurs daily, weekly, monthly or more, can I specify the recurrence of the event?
Yes, during the addition (or update) of an event, click on "repeat". You will be prompted with many different options to specify the repetition of your event.
  • I’m trying to add a new club but the address is not recognized, what can I do?
In this situation, two cases are possible: the address is wrong, and you need to check and change the spelling or postal code, or Google Maps (they display the map) doesn't know the address. In this case, zoom on the map until you can drag-and-drop the marker at the correct location. Then you can specify the address as you know it in the boxes above the map. Once this is done, go on to STEP 2 WITHOUT clicking on "show the address on the map". Done!
  • My sport is not in the list, how can I add it?
You just need to ask us to add and we'll do it as soon as possible. We think we have a thorough list of the most practised sports in the world, but we also know that some will be added in the future. After your request is received, we will do a bit of research (eg Is this a real sport? How many people really practise it?...) Once satisfied, we will add your sport to the list, and then all the existing functionalities will be available for you and this new tribe!
  • How can I see all events or members of a club?
You first need to find the club page in question. Once on its page, click on the tab "club members" to display all members registered in Sport-Tribe who have flag themself as member of this club.
Click on the tab "club events" to see all events attached to the club.
  • Why should I enter my home town in my profile?
To allow other members of Sport-Tribe to search for sport partners in their area. However, to protect all our members, we only ask for the city where you live, and not your full address.
  • How can I find members living near to where I live?
In each of our members' profiles, the city or town where they live is shown (see previous question). If you click on "Members" from the menu bar, you will instantly see the members belonging to the same "Tribe" as you.
  • How can I contact the Sport-Tribe team ?
You have two options: send us an email directly at info@sport-tribe.com or by filling out the form found at our "Contact Us" link, located at the bottom of each page.
  • I would like to advertise on Sport-Tribe, what should I do ?
